Macys: Lakeside MallMetairie, Louisiana
After the devastation from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Macy’s closed its
two New Orleans area stores indefinitely. In September of 2007, the retail
giant announced its return to the New Orleans market through the renovation
of its Kenner location at the Esplanade Mall and the construction of a brand
new store at Lakeside Mall in Metairie. The groundbreaking for the
228,000-square-foot, three level department store began on November 1, 2007.
Macy opened its doors to the public on October 25th, 2008 preceded by a
star-studded gala the evening before. The $2.1 million contract included
complete electrical installation and ninety-five percent of the labor was
performed by All Star Electric, Inc.
Macy’s extensive lighting
program and unique lighting designs included over 4800 light fixtures of 60
different types which required great organization and coordination by the
management team, field staff, and purchasing department. The ability to
store fixtures and equipment in its own warehouses helped All Star Electric
overcome the challenge.
